In Estonia. the first written record of alcohol goes back to 1485, when the Reval Great Guild of wine producers issued an order prohibiting the residents of suburban areas to sell spirits in town. This year officially marks the beginning of alcohol production in Estonia. Only members of the Great Guild, merchants, and their widows had the right to produce alcohol for sale.

Edward Lloyd opens the London coffee house that soon becomes a popular meeting place for shipowners, merchants, insurance brokers and underwriters. In time the business association they form will outgrow the coffee house premises, and become Lloyd's of London.

The barbers of Reval received a permit from Karl XI, the king of Sweden for the production and selling of vodka. The general regulation for producing and selling ethanol was also set.

Jekaterina II made a regulation that gave the right to produce vodka only to noble families and none other. 85% of mansions had their own vodka distilleries that's produce was also known abroad and was mostly sold to Russian Empire.
